Tenin Baba Ndanani is a singer, songwriter and actress whose soulful lyrics and smooth vocals flow where the gospel, R&B and acoustic genres meet. In 2011 her self-titled debut album showcased an empowering take on inspirational music with power ballads "Diamond" and "I Deserve More" leading the way. Reviews from Music Connection and Hypetree magazines hailed "Tenin channels the likes of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill to form a new chapter in hip-hop’s history of conscious female singers with the pipes to back up their girl power swagger."
Suffice it to say, Tenin is a multi-talented artist. The songbird is a songwriter and an actress who has appeared on FOX, TLC and Oxygen networks in hit reality series American Idol and Jersey Couture, as well as performed over two-dozen lead roles in musical productions like All Shook Up, Ragtime and Smokey Joe's Cafe. God-given songwriting abilities pave her way to musical collaborations of all genres including collaborations with Pras of the Fugees, Kristina Perez of Akon's Konvict Entertainment imprint and many others.
Currently, Tenin is preparing the release of her second album to coincide with the premiere of a major-network docu-series chronicling the challenges and triumphs of achieving her dreams as a new wife, new mom and successful business owner. The new album will diverge from her first to feature orchestral instrumentation, sweeping vocals and next-level songwriting designed to speak to the hearts of listeners everywhere. It's a lot, but it's all the the Harlem-born, Jersey-bred superstar has dreamed of. Tenin fondly remembers, "There was never a moment that music wasn't a part of my life. At church my mom played piano and lead choirs around New York City. At home she played Sade, Anita Baker and James Taylor. All of that music seeped into my brain, and I was allowed to express it through my own art." As a teen, Tenin further honed her creative talents by frequently winning local talent shows performing at large public events. Those experiences were the building blocks of her music career.
